GN Separation has recently completed the manufacturing and factory testing of a GNLW554-VFD Decanter centrifuge, which is now ready for shipment to an oil industry customer in Africa. The equipment will be used to treat tank-bottom oily sludge, helping the customer recover valuable oil, reduce waste volume, and improve overall environmental performance.

The GNLW554-VFD Decanter centrifuge is one of GN Separation's 22-inch decanter centrifuge models, designed for continuous solid-liquid separation in demanding industrial applications. It is suitable for applications including oily sludge treatment, refinery waste processing, drilling waste management, and industrial wastewater treatment.
Equipped with a variable frequency drive (VFD) system, the centrifuge allows operators to adjust the bowl speed and differential speed according to changing feed conditions. This provides greater operational flexibility and helps maintain stable separation performance for different types of sludge.

For tank-bottom oily sludge treatment, the feed is typically conditioned through processes such as dilution, heating, and chemical treatment before entering the centrifuge. Inside the rotating bowl, high centrifugal force separates the solid and liquid phases. The screw conveyor continuously transports the separated solids toward the discharge ports, while the clarified liquid is discharged separately for further processing or oil recovery.
This continuous separation process enables the decanter centrifuge to operate efficiently with challenging oily sludge streams while reducing the need for frequent manual cleaning.
